4 calling birds!

On the fourth day of Christmas, our true love gave to us four calling birds! Amy Tangerine’s got her scrapbooking skills out for this craft project. Have a look.

Tweet, tweet! It’s day four of our 12 Days of Christmas craft projects and we’ve got a fab little tutorial from scrapbooking queen Amy Tangerine for four calling birds. This would work brilliantly in a scrapbook or you could put it in an ornate frame and hang it in pride of place on your wall.

You'll need

Studio Calico 12X12” wood grain patterned paper

6x6” glitter & patterned paper

gesso or white acrylic paint

foam brush

adhesive

paper piercer

scissors

pencil

twine

thread

needle

sequins

flower punch

lace tape

Washi tape

Lawn Fawn heart stamp

Hero Arts Shadow Ink

Simply make

1 Paint a thin layer of gesso on the wood grain patterned paper using the foam brush.

2 While it dries, draw a simple bird on some paper, then cut it out to use as a template.

3 Trace the bird four times onto paper and cut out. Trace on the back of the papers, especially if you're using glitter paper.

4 Poke four holes with the paper piercer as shown and stitch with floss so you’re left with four quadrants.

5 Draw in the branches, then poke holes along the lines to make a guide for stitching.

Backstitch along the branches.
6 Add the Washi and lace tape, then attach the birds.

7 Poke holes for the eyes and stitch down with a sequin and French knot.

8 Stamp the hearts randomly over the page, then punch the flowers and adhere them to finish.

How sweet is that? Make sure you check out our other posts this week and come back here tomorrow for five gold rings!
