Tea and cake with Fausta Babenskaite

Meet Fausta, the maker behind the amazing crochet doilies project on the blog this week!

"I started crafting when I was a little girl, maybe 10 years old, but only for a short time. I only started again after I had my first son, about 2 years ago, I have much more time to work on my creations and have fallen completely in love with crochet. My mum taught me to crochet and cross stitch, she was always making something for me or my sister. Our home was one full of crochet doilies and there were yarns stored everywhere. The first thing which I made was small cross-stitch picture, which I still have in my treasure box."

"I mostly love to make doilies and cute photo props for newborn babies, but I am always looking for something new and love a challenge. I find inspiration in everything around me. When I am walking with my son, when I am cooking, when I spending my time with family, I have so many ideas in my head, but never enough time to make them real."

"My dedicated craft space is small corner in living room, where I store my yarns and have little comfy armchair. I only started selling my crafts when I posted some photos on my Facebook page. I got so many custom orders so I decided to try selling on some online craft shops like Folksy and Etsy. It’s not my full-time job, but in the future I am looking forward to quitting it for my craft business."

"I grew up in little town named Elektrenai in Lithuania. I love this town and miss it every day, but I was looking for something bigger in my life, so destiny brought me here to Britain. Here, many people love handcrafted items, so it encouraged me to make some new things. It’s a great audience to be able to get your creations too."
